Legal documents, for example, often use so-called run-in headings. These can be created by inserting a style separator – a special paragraph mark ('¶') – between a heading (e.g., Heading 2), and an unnumbered body text paragraph (e.g., HeadingBody 2). A style separator can be created by (1) typing Ctrl+Alt+Return or (1) clicking a button on the DokuMate ribbon tab.
In the example below, "1.1 Heading" is a paragraph formatted with a heading style (e.g., Heading 2), while ". This is body text." is a separate paragraph formatted with a body text style (e.g., HeadingBody 2).
1.1 Heading¶. This is body text.
The two paragraphs are separated by a style separator, which is displayed as a pilcrow symbol ('¶') by Microsoft Word and highlighted in red in the above example. If you use style separators, you should write the period after the style separator so that it does not appear in the table of contents.
